When I heard the news that Tuesday Alabama’s Senate passed a bill that now makes abortions illegal with no exceptions of rape and incest. And Georgia Governor Brian Kump signing a bill that now makes performing an abortion illegal once a heartbeat is detected and now Texas is attempting to subject women to capital punishment if they have an abortion……. I am disgusted. Alamba and Georgie’s bill is not about pro-life, it is about control! To have a government tell us what we can or can not do with our bodies is disgusting. The United States of America “The Land of the free,” but are we really free if women are being told what we can do with our bodies? I understand that this is a controversial topic and that some feel that abortion is a bad thing and that when someone has an abortion they are taking a life. Everyone one is entitled to their own opinions, but when your opinions start affecting others that’s when its a problem. If you think that abortion is bad then don’t get one, period, but how dare you make that choice for someone else. I rather make that decision for myself than have the government make it for me because I know what’s best for myself.
This is a topic of discussion for women, men can’t get pregnant so they will never be in the position to have an abortion or not. Abortion is a deeply personal and physical experience that some women have to decide upon in their life, this should not be a political issue. Until the day I see a baby come out of a man’s body, an opinion about abortion should never come out their mouth. The government fails time and time again to understand the real issue at hand, which are GUNS. Instead of politicians trying to play doctor and make abortion illegal, they need to be making guns illegal. More than 100 mass shootings have happened this year in the U.S according to the Gun Violence Archive. With more than 100 people killed and 300 people murdered. These numbers continue to rise as the days go on, which is sad because the government is doing nothing about them. I thought New Zealand introducing their new gun control bill after their shooting last month at two Christchurch mosques, would be an example to the U.S, but sadly it wasn’t. No women who have ever had an abortion has murdered a roomful of strangers, but somehow abortions got banned quicker then assault rifles…….
As a woman, I will continue to speak on women’s lives and our freedoms. As women in a society that we live in today, we are already seen below men and men as being superior. This is MY BODY SO I MAKE THE RULES #rantoverfornow
