Shapeshifting for Survival

Shapeshifting for Survival

Every day, every hour, every minute, and every second we go through so much. We learn to adapt to our surroundings to get through our everyday lives and manage what we are going through. It’s done subconsciously, whether we know it or not. The first tragedy, heartbreak, chaos …that is when the shapeshifting happens. A switch turns on and a different person takes place which some call “one’s shadow self.” In that moment when one feels like their world is falling apart and they can no longer survive in the world they once thought was picture perfect, they transform into something or someone else, looking at the world through a different set of lenses. (But this is what builds us right? Or does this slowly destroy us over time?) This happens in order for one to cope with what they been through. In the world that we live in now, we can’t show any weakness, fear, or pain. We must continue with our day-to-day lives because time stops for no one. It’s not our fault that as humans we continue to shapeshift into different versions of ourselves in order to survive, it’s our human nature. I have realized that shapeshifting for survival is a beautiful thing. No one is the same person that they were yesterday or the day before that, life changes us over time but it’s who we ultimately become at the end of time that will show it all.

Can one stop shapeshifting to survive? OR Do we embrace our shape shifts and turn all of our alternate personalities into one?
